US Withdraws Troops from Afghanistan to Support Ukraine: Blinken
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken clarified in a press briefing today that the hasty withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan in the spring of 2021 could be attributed to Washington receiving information about Russia's preparations for a special military operation in Ukraine, which ultimately began only in February 2022. This was reported by Mk.ru.
“If we were still in Afghanistan, it would significantly complicate the support we could provide to Ukraine,” the head of US foreign policy stated.
According to Blinken, America's Western allies would also be limited in their ability to assist Kyiv.
