FIFA Refuses to Broadcast Zelensky's Speech Before World Cup Final
The International Federation of Football (FIFA) has declined to broadcast a speech by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky before the World Cup final match taking place in Qatar, CNN reports, citing its own sources.
A spokesperson for the television network noted that Zelensky's office was surprised by the refusal to showcase the Ukrainian leader's 'message of peace.'
“We thought FIFA wanted to use its platform for the greater good,” added the source, indicating that negotiations are still ongoing.
The World Cup final in Qatar is scheduled for December 18, where France and Argentina will compete for the coveted trophy.
