Azerbaijan Claims Armenia Illegally Used Resources During Occupation, Says Aliyev's Aide

The Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan on Security Issues, Hikmet Hajiyev, met with representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Baku. During the meeting, he stated that the "illegal exploitation" of the Kashen and Drmbon mineral deposits must cease.

"During the years of occupation of Azerbaijani territories, Armenia illegally used our resources and harmed the environment. Now we are witnessing similar actions in areas under the control of Russian peacekeepers," Hajiyev said.

According to him, there has been an observed "intensification of illegal exploitation," particularly at the Drmbon gold mine. "This issue has been discussed with relevant Azerbaijani authorities, and the Ministry of Defense has contacted the peacekeepers regarding this matter. As a result of negotiations, it has been agreed that monitoring will begin on December 10. Illegal activities must be stopped," Hajiyev added.
