Raisi on Tehran and Moscow's Common Understandings
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stated that Tehran and Moscow share common understandings in the fight against religious extremism. This was mentioned in Raisi's greeting to the participants of the XVIII International Muslim Conference, titled "Justice and Moderation: Divine Principles of the World Order," held in Moscow, which was read by Iran's presidential advisor Abul Kasim Dolabi.
“Today's Russia is a successful model for dialogue between Abrahamic religions and Islamic schools of thought,” Raisi said. He noted that the Russian Orthodox Church and Sunni muftis have extensive ties with Iran's religious and scientific centers. “The prosperity of such connections between religions leads to a common understanding of international agenda issues by both Iran and Russia, particularly regarding terrorism, which is manifested in the unity of actions of these countries in the fight against the 'Islamic State' and religious extremism,” Raisi emphasized.
Dolabi also mentioned that “Iran's principled policy regarding cooperation with Russia has always been based on strengthening relations with that country.” The conference is dedicated to the 1400th anniversary of Muhammad Magar's Hijra and the 1100th anniversary of the official acceptance of Islam by the peoples of Volga Bulgaria.
