Messi on Uruguay’s Elimination from the World Cup

Argentinian national team forward Lionel Messi has spoken about Uruguay’s elimination from the 2022 World Cup. Uruguay's national team includes Messi's former teammate and close friend Luis Suárez, who plays for Barcelona.

“Whatever happens with Luis, I will always be by his side and ready to support him. It was painful to see how Uruguay was eliminated, but such things happen in football. We must just focus on the future,” Messi's words were reported by COPE.

It is worth noting that Uruguay finished in third place in their group and was unable to progress to the playoffs. They were in the same group as Portugal, South Korea, and Ghana. Interestingly, both Uruguay and South Korea earned 4 points, but the Koreans advanced to the next round due to a higher goal difference.
