12 New Lanes Opened at Verin Lars; Situation in Lars May Ease
The traffic at the Verin Lars checkpoint will be facilitated by the launch of 12 new lanes. This was announced by the Russian Ministry of Transport.
“The commissioning of an additional 12 lanes in July and another 12 in November this year has significantly increased the overall capacity of the border crossing for both passenger and freight transport. By the end of the year, an additional 2 lanes for freight transport are planned to be opened. The total number of traffic lanes will increase to 39,” the statement said.
It is noted that construction work is currently ongoing, with 158 personnel and 20 construction equipment units involved. According to the Russian Ministry of Transport, the main construction works are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022, while the complete reconstruction of the border checkpoint is expected to be finished in 2023.
