US Creates Coronavirus Variant with 80% Mortality Rate, Says Russian Defense Ministry
A coronavirus variant has been developed in the United States, which has resulted in an 80% mortality rate among laboratory animals. This statement was made by Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the radiation, chemical, and biological protection forces of the Russian Armed Forces, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“In October, an artificial strain of the coronavirus was created based on the ‘Omicron’ variant and the original ‘Wuhan’ type at Boston University. The modified virus obtained by the Americans killed 80% of the laboratory animals used for testing, which developed atypical neurological symptoms and severe lung lesions,” Kirillov said during a briefing.
He added that the protective properties of antibodies decrease by 11 times when interacting with the new pathogen, and existing vaccines are ineffective against it. “Despite the high biological risks, the studies have been conducted using U.S. federal budget funds without the corresponding approval from a national regulator for biosafety,” the lieutenant general noted.
The head of the radiation, chemical, and biological protection forces of the Russian Armed Forces reminded that the Pentagon has a system that allows real-time monitoring of particularly dangerous pathogens' locations and their use in laboratories worldwide, as well as access to the results of experiments that are controversial from an ethical and legal standpoint. He categorized the creation of the new coronavirus strain as part of such experiments.
It is noted that former U.S. National Security Advisor Bolton co-authored a document on the need to create biological weapons for U.S.
