Video: Two Years After My Instruction, the Surmalu Explosion Occurs – Pashinyan Expresses Anger

“When the government goes to solve a problem, they say, ‘Well, these people earn next to nothing; fine, just let them sell a few fireworks,’” said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a cabinet meeting. He expressed his frustration regarding the dismissal of the head of the inspection body coordinating office and the head of the inspection body, which he linked to the Surmalu incident where his specific directive was not followed.

“After the Beirut explosion, I gave a clear instruction: I said, ‘Inventory the goods and eliminate any possibility that something like this could happen again in Armenia.’ Exactly two years after that instruction, the Surmalu explosion occurs,” he added, emphasizing that individual accountability is crucial.

“I shouldn’t have to remind them every week with a call saying, ‘Do you remember what I instructed?’” he noted.
