‘During George Bush's Elections, There Were Issues in the U.S., They Went for a Recount’: Simidian

The Minister of Environment, Hakob Simidian, spoke with reporters in the National Assembly, stating that there were certain questions during the election of the fourth division of the ruling Civil Contract party, which resulted in the need for a recount, emphasizing that discussions about democracy should encompass these aspects.

‘There is no issue of democracy within us; if there were, a recount would not have been necessary. Problems arise in all elections, what is the fraud here?’ Simidian said.

He also addressed potential conflicts within the Civil Contract party. ‘Where do you see this conflict? I am a member of that party, I have not seen any divisions. Regarding factions, even in your editorial teams, two people might be closer to each other, etc. Our party is distinguished by the fact that it forms its leadership through elections. I repeat, in both Armenia and all democratic countries, there are shortcomings in elections. Let me remind you, even during George Bush's elections in the U.S., there were issues; they went for a recount, and Bush was elected president,’ Simidian noted.
