Meeting of Demarcation and Border Security Commissions Held in Brussels: What is Known
On November 3, a meeting took place in Brussels between the commission on the demarcation of the state border and border security issues of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, chaired by Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev.
Before the start of the meeting, Stefano Sanino, Secretary General of the European External Action Service, welcomed the delegations of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, wished success to the work of the committees, and reiterated the European Union's readiness to continue providing support in the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev expressed their gratitude for the good organization of the meeting by the EU Council in their welcoming speeches.
Considering the agreements reached at the level of the leaders of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan in various formats, the parties continued discussions on the issues of demarcation and addressed organizational and procedural matters.
To establish the legal framework for the joint activities of the commissions, the parties agreed to expedite the work on harmonizing the procedures for the joint operation of the commission on the demarcation of the state border and border security issues of the Republic of Armenia and the state commission for the demarcation of the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia.
The parties agreed to determine the date and location for the fourth meeting of the commissions in a working manner.
