Why the Enemy in Jermuk Wasn't Captured: The Chief of the General Staff Responds

As a result of positional firefights, units encroaching into the territory of Armenia have retreated. This was stated by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Edward Asryan, in a conversation with journalists at the National Assembly.

“The enemy units, suffering losses, have pulled back. To capture the enemy, we would have needed to get much closer, and without endangering the lives of our soldiers, we did not proceed with that. Currently, we have a delineated frontline in Jermuk, which secures the safety of Jermuk,” said Asryan.

According to him, enemy forces are now located 5.5 to 6 kilometers away from the center of Jermuk.

It should be noted that since September 13, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have been intensively firing from artillery and large-caliber firearms towards Goris, Sotk, and Jermuk. The enemy has also been using drones.

As of 20:00 on September 14, a ceasefire regime was established along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, which has been periodically violated by the Azerbaijani side.
