We Are Shocked: The US on Armenia and Azerbaijan Relations
The United States continues to support international efforts to promote reconciliation between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by Vedant Patel, Deputy Spokesperson for the State Department.
“We are shocked by the human losses that have occurred over decades during this conflict, and we express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and the injured. Many families have suffered and lost their loved ones during this conflict, and as we try to move forward with our engagement towards a different future, those families deserve accountability. Those responsible must be held accountable; there is a need for accountability to achieve peace and recovery. And we continue to support international efforts to promote truth and reconciliation, and we believe that these processes can occur alongside the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” he stated.
