Peskov Comments on Medvedev's Statement Regarding Nuclear Weapon Use
The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, while speaking about Russia's right to use nuclear weapons if necessary, cited doctrinal documents, said Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia.
“In fact, there was a reference to our doctrinal documents, so it is sufficient to recall the relevant provisions of the doctrine,” Peskov was quoted by RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Medvedev addressed the potential use of nuclear weapons in the context of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict on his Telegram channel, stating that Russia has the right to use nuclear weapons if necessary, in strictly accordance with the foundations of state policy in the field of nuclear deterrence.
