Aliyev: We Do Not Aim to Compete with Russia in the European Market
Azerbaijan does not intend to compete with the Russian Federation in the global gas market. This was stated by Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev in an interview with the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore.
He also mentioned that Azerbaijan will support the implementation of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline if the authorities of Turkmenistan decide to construct it.
"I want to emphasize an important point. Neither in the past nor now have we set a goal to compete with Russian gas in the European market. We have our own place. We have signed gas supply contracts with three European countries: Italy, Greece, and Bulgaria. There is a necessity in other European countries as well, and we are currently assessing that necessity," Aliyev said.
