Raid at Trump's Massive Residence
Federal Bureau of Investigation agents have conducted a raid at one of the residences belonging to former U.S. President Donald Trump. This was reported by Reuters.
In response to the raid, the former president stated, “This unannounced visit to my home was neither necessary nor appropriate after working and cooperating with appropriate government agencies.”
According to Trump, the FBI carried out the search at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, on August 8, during which even a fireproof safe was opened.
As reported by The New York Times, citing sources familiar with the investigation, the raid was related to classified documents found at the former president's home.
“The search focused on materials that Mr. Trump brought with him to his personal club and residence Mar-a-Lago after leaving the White House. According to a person familiar with the contents of the boxes, they contained numerous pages of classified documents,” the newspaper writes.
According to the publication, after requests from National Archives officials, Trump delayed the return of 15 boxes with important materials for months and only returned them when threatened with potential legal actions for their return.
