Video: Road Markings Have Disappeared, Mayor Says
Marking works are ongoing, and we will finish the first phase by the end of the week. This was stated today, July 19, during an operational consultation at the Yerevan Municipality by Hayk Sargsyan, acting head of the Transport Department.
In response, Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan said, “I do not know what the first phase is; it might be because of the disappearing pens. You draw, and after some time, the drawing disappears. We have this problem; has the laboratory conducted tests? Seven days have passed; what have we done in those seven days? We marked the streets three weeks ago but now there's no marking. I see a trend here; the same organization did the markings in Yerevan last year. I do not know what new methods they are using or if the paint is new. If this continues, I do not want the community to have an organization under its jurisdiction to deal with these markings. We will announce a competition, we will procure the paints ourselves, and they can go home. It’s not that we paid them little money. Their performance acts have not been signed either. We will wait for the results of the examination.”
The mayor instructed the acting head of the Transport Department to focus solely on markings this week and not to engage in anything else, stating, “It’s a shame. We spoke grandiosely; just look at what markings we are doing, and now this is the result.”
