EU Does Not Impose Any Sanctions on Azerbaijan for Appearances' Sake; This Is European Value, Says Vardevanyan

On July 4, at the EU office, MP Aram Vardevanyan from the Armenia parliamentary "Hayastan" faction stated that the EU ambassador does not wish to express a stance on the illegal activities in Armenia, the retreat of democracy, and other issues.

“We have previously stated at rallies that it was when the people stood up that Gagik Jhangiryan resigned. The EU has not yet expressed any position regarding this issue. Let’s imagine the EU ambassador was not aware of the recording. Gagik Jhangiryan was the executor of all judicial reforms for a year and a half and was the person behind all arrests. The EU ambassador has nothing to say. Otherwise, they share in all of Jhangiryan's actions. The EU ambassador does not want to express a stance on the illegal activities in Armenia, the retreat of democracy, and other issues. This is the European value, that there are Armenian prisoners of war in Azerbaijan, who are being subjected to inhuman treatment, yet the EU does not impose any sanctions on Azerbaijan for appearances' sake. We have come to say that just as Jhangiryan resigned, we will also achieve the goals set before us,” said Vardevanyan.

It is noteworthy that the "Resistance" movement was holding a protest near the intersection of Baghramyan Avenue and Demirchyan Street. Later, members of the "Resistance" movement marched from the National Assembly towards the European Union office in Armenia.
