Gas Cylinder Certification Required by August 1, Says RA CHTA

The State Technical Safety Supervision Body of the Republic of Armenia informs that gas cylinders used in vehicles operating on compressed natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas will not be refilled after August 1 unless they are certified by a licensed organization.

The supervision body urges individuals to certify their gas cylinders before August 1. The certification of gas cylinders is carried out by licensed organizations, which provide the driver of the vehicle with documents indicating the periodic certification deadline, as specified by the Government of Armenia. Additionally, they enter the data regarding the vehicle and the gas cylinders into an electronic database.

Starting August 1, the State Committee for Urban Development, Technical and Fire Safety will exercise regulatory functions and impose administrative penalties on operators violating the licensing conditions. According to the Code of Administrative Offenses, violating the mandatory requirements for the installation of gas cylinder equipment or the periodic certification of gas cylinders may result in fines ranging from one hundred to two hundred times the established minimum wage.

Violating the requirements for the installation of gas cylinder equipment and provision of documents specified by the Government, or entering data about vehicles and gas cylinders into the electronic database improperly, results in fines from three hundred to five hundred times the established minimum wage for officials of the organization authorized to engage in equipment installation and certification.

Refueling gas cylinders without identification from the electronic database, or failing to receive a positive conclusion after identification, may lead to penalties for the official of the gas filling station, amounting to two hundred times the minimum wage. Repeating this violation within one year after the administrative penalty has been applied results in fines equal to double the previous administrative penalty.

Currently, there are 15 licensed organizations operating in Yerevan and the regions.
