Cristaline Drinking Water to Increase in Price for the First Time in 20 Years in France

The most sold product in France, Cristaline drinking water, will see its prices rise for the first time in 20 years. BFM television reported on Tuesday that the price will increase in the coming days, according to TASS.

Currently, a pack of six 1.5-liter bottles of Cristaline costs an average of 1 euro. Consumption expert Olivier Dovern stated that the price will rise by about 10%.

The last increase in the price of Cristaline water occurred when France's currency switched from the franc to the euro in 2002. Since then, the price has managed to remain stable due to increased factory productivity and a rise in the number of sources from which the water is extracted, as well as a reduction in the amount of plastic used in bottle production. However, due to rising oil prices, the cost of plastics has increased by 39%. Transportation costs between sources, factories, and retail points have also risen.

According to BFM estimates, more than seven packs of Cristaline water are sold in France every second.
