G7 Countries Agree to Phase Out Coal

All G7 countries have agreed to organize electricity production without harmful carbon emissions to the environment from coal by 2035, making the phase-out of coal a common goal for the 'Group of Seven.'

This was announced by Robert Habeck, Germany's Minister of Economics and Climate and Deputy Chancellor, during a press conference held in Berlin regarding the results of the meeting of G7 countries' climate, energy, and environment ministers.

“Significant progress has been made in decarbonizing the energy sector. The commitment now undertaken speaks to the fact that the energy sector in all G7 countries should primarily be decarbonized by 2035, and this is the first new thing; the phase-out of coal is the common goal of the G7,” the minister stated, as reported by RIA Novosti.
