«No Grain of Truth» Peskov on US State Department Statement
In a statement from the US State Department claiming that Russian President Vladimir Putin is spreading "disinformation" about the situation in Mariupol, there is "no grain of truth." This was declared by the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, during a conversation with reporters.
“There is no grain of truth in those statements. We suggest everyone familiarize themselves with the information provided yesterday by the Ministry of Defense, which reported to Defense Minister Shoigu (Sergey, - ed.) during a meeting with President Putin,” said Peskov.
Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu informed President Vladimir Putin that a silence regime had been declared for the last two days, all combat operations had been halted, and humanitarian corridors had been opened for the exit of civilians who may be in the "Azovstal" area. However, so far, no one has exited from the Mariupol facility.
Later, according to media reports, US State Department spokesman Ned Price stated that Ukrainian forces still maintain control over Mariupol. Shoigu's announcement that the urban area of Mariupol is under the control of the Russian army has been labeled as disinformation by the American official.
