China Comments on Biden's Refusal to Visit Kyiv
The refusal of U.S. President Joe Biden to visit Kyiv and to send American troops to Ukraine can be seen as a limitation of U.S. capabilities. This was reported by the Global Times, a Chinese newspaper, on Tuesday, April 19.
"The fact that Biden has decided not to send troops to Ukraine and has abandoned the idea of visiting Kyiv demonstrates, in many ways, the limited capacity of the United States to engage in the conflict. In such a situation, Ukraine loses its trump card," notes the author of the article.
The publication also stated that Washington's indecisiveness reflects the selfishness of its objectives. Biden's possible visit to Kyiv highlights that U.S. statements regarding 'support for Ukraine' are nothing more than a game of using the Ukrainian side for military gain," the article states.
Earlier, on April 17, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that his American counterpart should come to Ukraine. On April 15, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki explained that Biden's visit to Kyiv was not planned. She noted that the U.S. president is prepared to do everything, including going to Ukraine, but for now, there is no discussion of that.
Prior to this, on April 14, the American leader expressed his willingness to personally visit Kyiv. The day before, Politico reported that the U.S. is discussing sending a representative from its administration to Kyiv to meet with Zelensky and provide support to the country.
