Russia Denies CNN Report on Unpaid National Debt
The Russian Federation has refuted reports by American CNN that it allegedly failed to meet its eurobond obligations. This was stated in a press release from the Russian Ministry of Finance, as reported by TASS.
"The information published by CNN is not true; Russia has not defaulted on its eurobond obligations. Default means that the debtor has no means to fulfill its debt obligations or has the means but lacks the desire to meet those obligations. Neither of these applies to Russia. The Russian Federation has sufficient resources to service and repay all its debt obligations on time," the statement reads.
