Artaq Sargsyan, who is under investigation for alleged corruption and torture, has been appointed as the head of the operational staff of the Penitentiary Service, after serving as the head of the ‘Prison Hospital’. This information has been confirmed to NEWS.am by the Penitentiary Service.

We have learned that Aghasi Khachatryan has been appointed as the head of the ‘Prison Hospital’, previously serving as the head of the ‘Nubarashen’ penitentiary. Karen Khachatryan has been appointed as the head of the ‘Nubarashen’ penitentiary.

It is noteworthy that on January 20, the National Security Service detained and arrested Artaq Sargsyan, the head of the ‘Prison Hospital’, along with two other employees who were involved as defendants. According to preliminary investigation data, two employees of the penitentiary institution under his supervision subjected one person to torture.
