Air Temperature Expected to Drop: Thunderstorms and Rainfall Forecasted
The Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center reports that Armenia has been under the influence of a rather active cyclone for the past two days, with precipitation observed across the entire territory of the republic. In mountainous areas, this has taken the form of snow, while in the foothill and valley regions, rain has been noted.
It has been noted that in certain regions of the republic, particularly in Amasia, Fandans, Aparan, Amberd, and near the summit of Mount Ararat, precipitation over the last two days has reached 40-60% of the monthly norm. Currently, the snow cover at the near-summit area of Mount Ararat reaches 129 cm, while in Amberd and Jermuk it is 56 cm, and it is 35 cm in Amasia and Hrazdan.
Precipitation will continue in all regions during the day on March 3 and until noon on March 4. Especially intense precipitation, along with thunderstorms in some areas, is expected tonight, and daytime will see wind intensification at speeds of 15-20 m/s.
After noon on March 4, precipitation will gradually cease. Due to the infiltration of Arctic cold air currents, air temperatures are expected to gradually drop by 6-8 degrees on March 4 and 5.
