Turkey Requests Air Corridor from Russia and Ukraine
Turkey has approached Russia and Ukraine requesting to establish an air corridor for the evacuation of its citizens. This was stated by Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in an interview with Turkish NTV.
“We are currently in talks with bus companies. However, the number of people wishing to return is significant. We have proposed the initiative to both Russia and Ukraine for establishing an air corridor. We are also ready to evacuate citizens by sea,” he emphasized.
Çavuşoğlu noted that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan continues to maintain close contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He reaffirmed their willingness to organize a meeting between the two presidents on Turkish territory.
