NATO Ready to Hear Russia's Concerns
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has announced that the alliance is prepared to listen to Russia's concerns and find a solution that benefits both sides. His remarks were cited by RIA Novosti during an interview with ARD television.
According to him, the alliance and the United States have made written proposals regarding arms control and transparency.
“This shows that we are ready for discussion, ready to listen to Russia's concerns and… seek a solution that will help both NATO and Russia,” the Secretary General stated.
Stoltenberg added that the issue of arms control plays a crucial role for both parties. “We want to convince Russia to change course and work with us to find a political solution,” he remarked.
On December 17, 2021, the Russian Foreign Ministry published drafts of agreements between Moscow, NATO, and the United States concerning security guarantees in Europe. The document states that Washington should not establish military bases in the territories of former Soviet Union countries that are not NATO members.
