Germany Values Dialogue with Putin
A source from the German government has stated that Berlin is expecting concrete steps from Moscow towards de-escalation.
Berlin is looking for specific measures from Moscow aimed at de-escalating tensions around Kyiv and acknowledges the importance of future negotiations with Russia, the unnamed source said. This was reported by TASS on Sunday, February 13.
“From our perspective, it is important that there are concrete steps toward de-escalation. The significance of this should not be underestimated. Direct dialogue with President Vladimir Putin will be important,” the source stated.
He emphasized that the fact that negotiations are taking place at various levels in Germany is viewed very positively, with the same support also given to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's decision to hold a meeting with Putin.
