Nearly 200 ISIS Militants Escape After Attack on Prison in Syria
Nearly 200 militants from the Islamic State terrorist organization escaped following an attack on a prison in Hasakah, Syria, on January 20. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the New York Times.
An anonymous American official suggested that the possible aim of the prison attack was to free certain leaders of high and mid-level terrorists, as well as fighters with specialized skills.
Earlier, Oleg Zhuravlyov, the deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Conflicting Parties in Syria, mentioned the escape of terrorists from a Syrian prison. According to him, the destruction operation involving the escaped militants is being supported by the combat aviation of the U.S. Armed Forces.
