A Delegation from the USA Has Arrived in Armenia and Made Proposals to the Ministry of Defense
Armenia has welcomed a delegation led by Brigadier General Edward Vaughan, who is the deputy head of the U.S. European Command’s partnership, security cooperation, and space-related capabilities office. The information is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
The delegation was received by Arman Sarkisyan, the deputy minister of defense of Armenia. The U.S. ambassador to Armenia, Lynne Tracy, also participated in the meeting. The interlocutors discussed issues related to regional security and Armenian-American bilateral cooperation in the field of defense. Both sides expressed their willingness to continue developing cooperation within the framework of existing programs.
The delegation was also received by Major General Arakel Martikyan, the deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces. Martikyan emphasized the importance of cooperation in peacekeeping, military medicine, and education, proposing to invest new efforts in the development of that cooperation.
The American side, in turn, presented a number of proposals, including those aimed at rehabilitation programs for injured soldiers and the development of emergency response systems.
During the visit, the delegation led by Brigadier General Edward Vaughan also visited the peacekeeping brigade of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, participating in the ceremony welcoming Armenian peacekeepers returning from Kosovo. The delegation also visited the National Defense Research University of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia and the military hospital, where a ceremony took place for the transfer of technical equipment for the field hospital acquired with U.S. support.
