Azerbaijan Employs Methods to Initiate the Emigration of Armenians from Their Homes, Says Abrahamyan

Member of the Armenian Parliament’s 'Honorary Duty' faction Tigran Abrahamyan discussed recent Azerbaijani provocations in Artsakh during an interview with Sputnik Armenia. He indicated that the recent provocations carried out by Azerbaijan in Artsakh stem from two motivations: to discredit the Russian peacekeeping mission and to create a climate of fear in Artsakh.

According to Abrahamyan, the Azerbaijani provocations in the direction of Karmir Shuka and Nakhijevanik villages were targeted, involving sniper fire. He noted, “Encouraged by Turkey, Azerbaijan regularly attempts to deliver strikes and demonstrate that the Russian peacekeeping mission is not fulfilling its role adequately. Recently, Azerbaijani and Turkish media, as well as Telegram channels directed by the government, have been mainly spreading anti-Russian information, which is also related to the temporary deployment of the CSTO forces in Kazakhstan.”

Abrahamyan emphasized that it is not excluded that anti-Russian sentiments in the informational and propaganda sphere may also be reflected in Artsakh, where the main guarantor of stability and security is the Russian peacekeeping contingent. He stated, “Azerbaijan traditionally employs methods to create a climate of fear in Artsakh and initiate the emigration of Armenians from their homes.”

According to the MP, after the recent provocations, tensions have eased with the intervention of Russian peacekeepers, although Azerbaijan has actively threatened the safety of the local civilian population. Abrahamyan underlined that solutions should be systematic, particularly emphasizing the need to completely evacuate military positions near Armenian settlements, especially since similar agreements have been made in other areas.

It should be noted that there have been three Azerbaijani provocations recorded in Artsakh in recent days. In the direction of Karmir Shuka, Azerbaijan struck a civilian vehicle parked in a yard, which exploded; in the gardens of Nakhijevanik village, intense fire was directed at a tractor working there and towards four civilians; and the third incident occurred on the road near Shushi, where Azerbaijanis attacked a car belonging to an Armenian civilian with stones.
