Biden to Speak with Putin on December 30
U.S. President Joe Biden is scheduled to hold a phone conversation with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on December 30. This information was reported by CNN, referencing National Security Council spokesperson Emily Horne.
According to Horne, the proposal for the call came from the Russian President. Biden accepted the offer because he believes that nothing can replace direct dialogue between leaders in U.S.-Russia relations.
The call is set for 3:30 PM local time (11:30 PM Moscow time). Biden plans to discuss a number of topics with Putin, including the upcoming U.S.-Russia negotiations on January 10, the Russia-NATO Council meeting, and discussions slated to take place within the OSCE framework.
Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov confirmed the planned phone conversation during an interview with RIA Novosti.
