I Wasn't Kept Away, I Did Not Run: Andranik Kocharyan
“It’s not that they kept me away from the National Assembly’s Defense Committee; rather, I did not run for the position,” said Andranik Kocharyan, a member of the Civil Contract faction, during a conversation with journalists. This was his response to a question about why he was kept away from the chairmanship of the Defense and Security Committee.
“I had previously informed all of you about my decision not to run and under what circumstances I might have reconsidered. Naturally, since the mechanisms for nominations were somewhat different, I did not run, simultaneously giving an opportunity to both journalists and my fellow colleagues who did not have time to assess the work I had done. When I change my direction, it means I have found unresolved issues in another field where, if I participate with dedication, I will be able to contribute positively. Specifically, I am referring to the standing committee on legal issues,” Kocharyan noted.
