Biden Signs Over $768 Billion Defense Budget
U.S. President Joe Biden signed the 2022 defense budget on Monday, amounting to $768.2 billion, reports The Hill.
Earlier in December, the U.S. House of Representatives approved the budget with a vote of 363 to 70, followed by the Senate, which passed it with a vote of 88 in favor and 11 against.
American media previously noted that the budget specifically allocates $300 million for the training and equipping of Ukrainian armed forces, including $75 million for lethal weapons.
Furthermore, it has been revealed by Western media that an additional $4 billion is being allocated to the European Defense Initiative and $150 million for the development of security cooperation with the Baltic states.
At the same time, media reports indicate that the draft budget did not include provisions regarding sanctions against the "Nord Stream 2" gas pipeline, nor did it contain a clause banning Americans from purchasing Russian sovereign debt.
