Real Wages Have Decreased: 'Zhoghvor' Newspaper
'Zhoghvor' newspaper reports that between January and September 2021, the growth of average nominal wages has lagged behind inflation rates. To substantiate this, let's present some facts: In the general economy, the average monthly nominal wage increased by 6.3%, reaching 198,757.0 drams compared to the same months of the previous year. In the public sector, the average wage grew by 3.6%, amounting to 172,382.0 drams. Regarding the private sector, it is noted that in the private sector, the average monthly nominal wage increased by 7.3%, totaling 211,178.0 drams. 'Zhoghvor' newspaper clarified that during the same period, the growth rate of nominal wages across the economy has been lower than the inflation rate (the average inflation rate was 6.7%). This means that ultimately, real wages in the Republic of Armenia (wages adjusted for inflation) have decreased by approximately 0.4%.
