Biometric Passports Not Issued, Regular Ones Limited
ArmDaily.am has been receiving reports for a substantial amount of time that biometric passports are not being issued in Armenia, and the issuance of regular passports is limited.
Incidentally, a similar issue arose months ago, but the competent authorities and officials had announced that they resolved the problem.
The media outlet contacted the police to clarify what the issue is. They were informed that no such problem exists. “Your information is false; there is no such thing,” the police stated.
The media notes that for two weeks, they have been trying to contact the police’s passport and visa division daily, as well as the regional divisions, using the phone numbers available online to verify the reports they received regarding passport issuance, but their calls have gone unanswered. The hotline of the passport and visa division is so 'hot' that it has been impossible to get through for two straight weeks.
