Iran Calls Drone Attack on Iraqi Prime Minister an Assault
The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, has stated that the drone attack on Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi's residence is an incitement to disorder, according to a report by Gazeta.
"The attempt to assassinate the Iraqi Prime Minister is an assault aimed at provoking turmoil, which needs to be investigated. This is linked to foreign analytical centers that have created and supported terrorist groups and occupied the country over the years," the statement said.
According to Shamkhani, foreign forces have provided the oppressed Iraqi people nothing but insecurity, discord, and instability.
Reports from Al Arabiya indicate that on the night of November 6-7, a drone missile was fired toward the Prime Minister's residence. Initially, the flying object's target was the Prime Minister's vehicle, but it was intercepted by security service personnel. Preliminary reports suggest that the assassination attempt resulted in injuries to ten members of the Prime Minister’s security service.
The political figure was taken to the hospital with minor injuries; however, he later stated that everything was fine. He emphasized his determination to uphold laws and rights to ensure the safety of the Iraqi people.
