«Azhdanak» LLC Stops Operations, Leaving 1500 Without Stable Income
The «Azhdanak» company operating in the village of Lernajur in the Syunik region has announced the cessation of its activities. According to the company's statement, the reason is the actions of law enforcement agencies.
“This morning, employees of the Kapan police department arrived at the company and presented an investigator's request, requiring that all operational technical means of the company be transferred to the Kapan police territory for examination, which is illegal, illogical, and unacceptable. As a result of all this, the company is forced to suspend its operations. As of today, 1500 people who depend on the company will be left without stable income,” the statement reads.
It is noted that there have been “various pressures and checks” from law enforcement on the company for about two years.
The «Azhdanak» company operates in the village of Lernajur in Syunik region. It carries out construction and freight transportation work and employs about 1500 workers. It ranks 56th on the list of Armenia's largest taxpayers, having paid 1.807 billion dram in taxes over the last six months.
It should be mentioned that the director of «Azhdanak» LLC, Arman Mkrtchyan, was held accountable for failing to submit the annual financial report for 2019.
