Discussion on the Detention of Davit Tonoyan is Underway
Currently, a discussion is underway at the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court regarding the request for the detention of Davit Tonoyan as a preventive measure. According to the publication, Tonoyan and Galstyan have been involved as defendants in the embezzlement of 2,277,323,840 AMD and for committing public danger acts.
It is also noted that Davit Galstyan was detained in February based on a petition from the National Security Service (NSS). According to the NSS, his company 'Mosston Engineering' embezzled a sum of one million dollars from the Ministry of Defense in 2018. Instead of artillery shells manufactured in the 1980s as stipulated in the contract, he fraudulently supplied the army with shells from the 1970s, which were incapable of resolving combat issues.
However, four months later, the appellate court overturned the ruling of the first-instance court that had detained him and released Galstyan. Nevertheless, today, Galstyan's lawyer informed journalists outside the court that this is an entirely different case and has no connection to the other.
It is also worth mentioning that the discussion on the request for the detention of Davit Galstyan is continuing in the same court, which began at 1:00 PM.
