‘The building was constructed by my relative Khachatur Sukiasyan’s brother’: Jhangiryan on buying a house for his son for $600,000
Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, Gagik Jhangiryan, responded to questions from parliament members today, addressing reports that he purchased a private house for $600,000 in the Cascade complex of Yerevan after taking office.
‘This building was constructed by my relative Khachatur Sukiasyan’s brother. The money was either paid by them or not paid. I am not aware, ask them,’ said Jhangiryan.
He later clarified that this house was purchased by his son's family through a mortgage loan. The Supreme Judicial Council rejected the request to hold Davit Grigoryan accountable.
‘Sukiasyan did not pay either,’ he said, adding that his son lives separately with his family and has two children. His wife is also the daughter of Khachatur Sukiasyan’s brother.
During the Q&A session, Jhangiryan also responded to a question about another house he owns, located near the Victory Park in Yerevan, where the Iraqi Embassy in Armenia is currently renting.
Gagik Jhangiryan stated that this house also does not belong to him but to his son, and that the Iraqi Embassy is renting it not from him, but from his son.
