The Term ‘Artsakh’ Will Not Be Added to the Commission’s Name, Proposal Rejected
The National Assembly's Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs rejected the proposal by the 'Armenia' faction, which suggested renaming the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations to include 'Artsakh' and become the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and Artsakh Issues.
Seven members of the 'Civil Contract' faction abstained from voting, while four opposition MPs voted in favor.
It should be noted that on August 6, the National Assembly of Armenia accepted a proposal from the 'Civil Contract' faction to establish 12 standing committees, but did not approve a proposal to create a standing committee for Artsakh issues in parliament. According to the ruling faction's justification, the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations already addresses the issues concerning Artsakh, and therefore there is no need to create a separate committee.
