Farmers Block Road in Ararat Region Over Grape Procurement Issues
A tense situation has arisen in the Ararat region. Residents from several villages have once again blocked the section of the Yerevan-Yeraskh highway leading from Shahumyan village to Taperekan village.
According to eyewitness reports from photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the villagers have closed the road due to an unsolvable problem related to grape procurement and are demanding a meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The police are engaged in negotiations with the protesters in hopes of reopening the road; however, the farmers have refused, stating that their patience has run out and they no longer trust either the regional governor or the Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan.
