Azerbaijani Armed Forces Close Goris-Varotan Road in Syunik Region, Ombudsman Reports
Azerbaijani armed forces have recently closed the road from Goris to Varotan in the Syunik region of Armenia. This fact has been confirmed through reports sent to the Human Rights Defender.
This is an interstate road that ensures the normal movement of the civilian population in Armenia and is directly connected to the normal conditions of people's lives. The criminal actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces violate the right to free movement and have completely disrupted the normal lives of citizens. Their presence on these roads in itself constitutes a violation of the right to life and other vital rights guaranteed internationally.
Following the closure of the interstate road by Azerbaijani armed forces near the village of David Bek in the Kapan community (in the Shurnukh-Karmrakar area) around 11:00 PM last night, movement of people has also been halted in this section.
