The People of Artsakh Have Had and Will Continue to Have Their Own Armed Forces, Says Artsakh President's Spokesperson
The people of Artsakh have had and will continue to have their own armed forces, which stems from our rights and the existing challenges. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Artsakh President, Lusine Avanesyan, in response to a question from Factinfo.
It is noteworthy that Azerbaijan demands the cessation of the deployment of Armenian armed forces in Artsakh. The clarification from the spokesperson of the Artsakh President is as follows:
“Azerbaijan's aim has been and remains the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh. The Defense Army was established and has been restraining Azerbaijan along this path for years, and even after the 44-day war, as acknowledged by Azerbaijani authorities, it successfully continues its mission. Otherwise, Azerbaijan would not attempt to impose its own interpretations of the trilateral statement on everyone. The right to defend oneself is undeniable, and the Republic of Artsakh operates based on this principle as well. The people of Artsakh have had and will continue to have their own armed forces, which is in line with our rights and the existing challenges.”
