VIDEO: Armen Sarkissian and Arman Tatoyan Discuss Border Situation
President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian held a meeting with Armenia's Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan. The President and the Human Rights Defender discussed the situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in relation to violations of the rights of the border communities.
Arman Tatoyan presented to the President the results of investigations conducted by the Human Rights Defender's office in the Gegharkunik, Syunik, and Ararat regions, as well as the examination of complaints. He noted that the illegal actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces continuously violate the rights of the residents of the border communities in the Republic of Armenia.
The facts demonstrate that the Azerbaijani armed forces regularly provoke gunfire incidents, while the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia carry out functions to protect the population. Arman Tatoyan informed that the documentation of these violations by the Azerbaijani armed forces has already been submitted to international organizations operating in Armenia and to accredited diplomatic missions.
The President and the Human Rights Defender exchanged views on the current situation.
