Azerbaijan's Attacks on Armenian Positions Have Led to a Deterioration of the Situation, Creating a Volatile Environment: Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has commented on the statement made by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, which states:
“We welcome the approaches of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship to resume the peace negotiation process, as presented in their joint statement circulated on July 29. The co-chairs and senior representatives of the co-chairing countries clearly articulated the priority issues of the peace process in their previous joint statements, particularly those dated December 3, 2020, and April 13, 2021, which can create a foundation for negotiations.
The co-chairs' statement once again confirms that the key to regional peace and security is a comprehensive and lasting resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Since May 12, the intrusion of Azerbaijani armed forces into Armenia's sovereign territory and recent attacks on Armenia’s defense positions have led to the deterioration of the situation. Armenia has consistently advocated for de-escalation and has made concrete proposals in this regard, particularly to withdraw military units to their positions as of May 11.
We are confident that a timely assessment of Azerbaijan's actions will contribute to overcoming the current volatile situation.”
