Why the Pashinyan-Putin Meeting Took Place After the Elections
The newspaper "Haykakan Jirair" reports that Russian political analyst Fyodor Lukyanov drew attention to the fact that the meeting between Pashinyan and Putin occurs after Armenia's snap parliamentary elections.
"The resolution process is quite extensive, encompassing negotiations on unblocking, as well as the situation at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. Both Armenia and Russia needed to discuss all issues related to the region," he noted.
He emphasized that such meetings are critical for unblocking, with priority issues under discussion including the situation at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, unblocking, and establishing peace.
Additionally, it should be noted that the deployment of Russian peacekeepers at Armenia's borders has already begun. The revolutionary government, which has been the loudest in demanding sovereignty and a decrease in Russian influence in Armenia, has become the most pro-Russian. It is Russia that dictates Nikol Pashinyan's political and security agenda. In exchange, Armenia is announcing a reduction in the size of its armed forces.
