Employees of the National Security Service Awarded
In connection with the formation of the State Protection Service of the NSS, Ararat Mirzoyan awarded the head of the Service, Sargis Hovhannisyan, yesterday, along with other service members and several employees responsible for his security, including the deputy head of the security department of the National Assembly, Armen Vardanyan. Sargis Hovhannisyan was awarded with a commemorative gift from the President of the National Assembly.
Notably, this individual was also awarded by Ararat Mirzoyan on December 20, 2020, on the occasion of the Day of National Security Workers, for performing his official duties “excellently and with high responsibility.” He received the commemorative gift alongside a group of NSS employees. Incidentally, at that time, these employees were accused of failing to protect the President of the National Assembly from the fury of the crowd on November 9, resulting in him ending up hospitalized with serious injuries.
What is the significance of awarding the same individual twice within six months? There may, perhaps, be a symbolic reason behind this. First, the official announcement posted on the NA website states that the award is in connection with the “anniversary” of the NSS, which indicates that there are apparently no literate individuals left in the NA to proofread. Secondly, it seems that the President of the National Assembly and this assembly already have “luggage” moods and perceive everything as “tragic,” regarding anniversaries, funerals, etc. For example, the parliamentary staff is sure that this is an order for Ararat Mirzoyan's farewell,” writes the “Hraparak” newspaper.
