Catholicos Aram I Seeks Support from Pope Francis for the Return of Captives
During a recent gathering of Lebanese Christian clergy at the Vatican, His Holiness Aram I, the Supreme Patriarch of the Armenian Apostolic Church, took the opportunity to discuss with Pope Francis the consequences of the war in Artsakh, particularly the issue of Armenian captives currently held in Azerbaijan.
The Supreme Patriarch reminded that Azerbaijan's illegal approach towards war captives contradicts international law. His Holiness expressed warm gratitude to the Pope for addressing the issue of captives and requested that he revisit this pressing matter for our people, emphasizing the necessity for the swift return of these individuals.
Additionally, the Patriarch discussed the same issue with Cardinal Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State.
His Holiness provided details about these discussions to Karen Nazaryan, Armenia's ambassador to the Vatican.
