Man Jumps Off Airplane After Attempting to Enter Cockpit
At Los Angeles International Airport, a passenger jumped out of a moving plane after attempting to enter the cockpit, reports BBC News.
On Friday, the man, whose identity has not been revealed, opened the aircraft's door and escaped through an emergency exit, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
He was apprehended and taken to a hospital. Crew members reported seeing the passenger get up from his seat while the plane was taxiing on the runway. They mentioned that he knocked on the cockpit door as he exited through the emergency exit.
The incident occurred on a SkyWest Airlines flight. There has been a rise in in-flight incidents in the U.S., with approximately 3,000 incidents reported this year alone. Earlier this month, the FAA stated that most of these incidents are related to the refusal to wear masks. The agency noted that as of May 25, there had been around 394 cases where passengers interfered with crew members. This figure is double last year’s number, which saw 183 cases under investigation.
